Independent Inquiry and Audit into West Wales Local Authorities

Independent Inquiry and Audit into West Wales Local Authorities
The Issue
I have personally been subject to safeguarding investigations in Pembrokeshire with no basis, with police confirming the allegations were unfounded. Despite the procedures, I was not properly informed of these investigations, or asked to provide evidence; with the local authority taking inappropriate decisive action despite me having substantial evidence and signed paperwork of innocence - my voice did not matter.
To this day, requests for data, Freedom of Information requests, and accountability have been met with silence, as emails continue to be ignored by those who should uphold transparency and fairness - especially when these people work for US.
This is not just my story but a growing concern across West Wales. Many residents have experienced similar issues with the council failing to uphold its duty in responding to Freedom of Information requests, which are crucial for transparency. Furthermore, there is an alarming trend in not completing Data Protection Requests, including Subject Access Requests, leaving citizens in the dark about how their personal data is being handled.
The issues don't just stop at transparency. We need a thorough investigation into the safeguarding teams for both adults and children. There are serious allegations of corruption and conflicts of interest that must be thoroughly examined to protect the vulnerable in our community - especially our children. These are not mere administrative oversights, but violations that could have lasting impacts on individuals and families with local authorities taking children away & not protecting those who shaped Wales into what it is today.
Financial oversight and accountability are also in question. With the current atmosphere of distrust, it is vital for an independent audit of financial practices at the three County Councils to ensure that public funds are being managed with integrity and openness, free from abuse. What’s more upsetting is that I know I will get retaliation from these Local Authorities as this shows their level of corruption instead of accountability.
We are calling on the Welsh Government or Parliament to intervene. We need an independent body to conduct a full inquiry into these issues so that public trust in Local Authorities can be restored. The stakes are far too high to ignore these calls for action, and we must ensure our local government officials are serving us, the community ethically and legally.
Please join me in demanding transparency, accountability, and a Local Authorities that truly serves its people.
Please sign this petition to urge the Welsh Government and Parliament to take action and hold Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion & Carmarthenshire County Councils accountable.
