I am someone who has suffered the traumatic experience of sexual assault - and not just once. Every time I gathered the courage to report the incidents, I was met with disappointment at the blatant lack of consequences for the perpetrators. Many of my friends have shared similar experiences where their offenders walked free, further deepening our wounds.

The National Sexual Violence Resource Center reports that more than 90% of sexual assault victims do not formally report the crime, and this lack of faith in the justice system is a considerable driving force behind this statistic (National Sexual Violence Resource Center). In fact, only 3 out of 4 reported cases result in the offender serving jail time (RAINN). This is not just my story - it's the story of countless victims who brave the system, hoping for justice.
