Increase the Limit on Dogs Permitted per Household in Kingstree City

Increase the Limit on Dogs Permitted per Household in Kingstree City
The Issue
I am a long-time dog owner, who has loved and provided for a pack of dogs for as long as eight years. These dogs have all been well taken care of and treated like family. They never get out of the fence and only bark when playing or if somebody is in the yard. They are vetted and healthy dogs. However, a city ordinance in Kingstree, where I now live, restricts the number of dogs allowed in a household. This ordinance threatens the well-being of my dogs, despite my proven capabilities as a responsible dog owner.
This law subjects responsible pet owners like myself to potential heartbreak, as it may lead to the euthanizing of otherwise happy and well-cared-for pets. It is important to note that while my dogs are safe and healthy, there are numerous stray dogs on our local streets and our shelters are at capacity, with many of these dogs often neglected.
A report from the American Veterinary Medical Association demonstrates that there are communities across the United States that manage to successfully care for more dogs per household than Kingstree City presently allows. Therefore, it is possible for our city to increase this limitation responsibly, preserving the rights and relationships of pet owners in our community.
Let's unite together to alter this ordinance, not only to preserve the love and care we provide to our pets but also to free up resources for stray and neglected dogs in need. Please sign this petition and help us lobby the Kingstree City Council to review and revise its restrictive pet ownership laws. Let's ensure a fair and compassionate approach for every dog in our beloved city.
