Personal experiences have thrust into sharper relief the urgent concern over our city's homeless crisis. Every day on my way home, I see homeless individuals sleeping on the streets, with their only shelter being the cold, hard concrete. In cold weather, this translates to sleepless nights in the biting frost - a life no one deserves to endure. We could address this by expanding our city's capacities for homeless shelters, transforming these spaces into pleasantly clean and maintained areas.

This crisis impacts more than just the individuals living on the streets. The lack of sufficient homeless shelters also takes a toll on our urban landscape and its maintenance, a shared concern for all city residents. A step towards resolving this is by increasing shelter availability, therefore, reducing the number of individuals residing in the streets.

Increases in homeless shelters have been proven to decrease homelessness rates, as seen in various cities nationwide. By following this proven path, I strongly believe that we can improve the lives of these vulnerable individuals while creating a cleaner and more maintained cityscape for everyone. 

Let's ensure that every one of our city's residents, regardless of their current predicament, has a warm and safe place to stay when it's frigid outside.
