I see homeless animals on the side of the road every day and it breaks my heart. These creatures cannot get a job or buy a home as humans can, but they are beings deserving of love, care, and compassion. We live in a society where we have the resources and the responsibility to care for them.

Around 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year (according to the ASPCA). Many more are left to fend for themselves on the streets and under harsh weather conditions. We need more shelters to provide a safe haven for these animals and we should increase food options, ensuring no animal goes to sleep hungry.

Additionally, we must encourage spaying and neutering pets to prevent overpopulation and subsequently, more homeless animals. Each and every animal life is precious and deserves our assistance.
