Increase Sentencing Laws for Knife Crime

Increase Sentencing Laws for Knife Crime
The Issue
Today’s events in sheffield at all saints secondary school have pushed me into starting this petition. A 15 year old boy went to school this morning only never to go home again thanks to a knife. The scum that did this to him had been excluded just last week for threatening to stab the young lad. We as a country need to push the government to change the laws regarding knife crime.
My sister was stabbed while the perpetrator still walks free. This personal tragedy underlines the stark reality of a failing system - knife crime is inadequately punished in our society. We must fight for stricter sentences, deterring individuals from participating in such violent acts and helping prevent other families from experiencing my pain. In the UK in 2020, there were already 46,265 offences involving a knife or sharp instrument, the highest number ever recorded (source: Office for National Statistics). These statistics show the desperate need for change and examine effective discipline methods. Our goal should not only be to instill fear of punishment but also to make carrying a knife socially unacceptable. Tougher sentencing is a significant step towards deterring and decreasing knife crime, thus saving young lives wasted too soon due to this violent crime. Please stand with us and sign this campaign to increase the sentencing laws for knife crime.
