I am a student working on a school project and during my research, I've recognized the critical need to ramp up security measures at sporting events. An alarming rate of violence and disruption has become synonymous with many sporting events around the world.

According to the New York State Office of Public Safety, over the past five years, there has been a 24% increase in reported crimes at large public gatherings including sporting events (NYS Office of Public Safety, 2020). This is not only detrimental to the enjoyment of sports games, it poses a significant risk to the safety of attendees.

We must intervene, not only for the love of the sports we watch and the communities they foster, but for the safety of our fellow fans. By implementing tougher security measures, which could include stricter bag checks, more security personnel, and an increased police presence, we stand a chance of curtailing such happenings.
