Make Rochedale Shopping Village Safe: Community Petition for Immediate Security Action

Crime is a community responsibility.  

We, the undersigned residents and regular visitors of Rochedale South and surrounding suburbs, call on Rochedale Shopping Village management, Coles Liquorland  and Katarina Demasi (Security Administration Officer at Drakes Supermarkets) Drakes Rochedale to take urgent action to address ongoing safety and security concerns at our local shopping precinct.

Incidents of theft, anti-social behaviour, and intimidation are becoming too frequent. A recent examples see groups of individuals steal openly from Liquorland and Drakes Rochedale South.  Smashing windows, abusing and threatening staff at Dominos. These actions are not isolated—they are becoming routine, they are not only consuming your products, but our resources—and they’re creating a sense of unease for both staff and shoppers. 

Our businesses and frontline workers—many of whom are young or casual employees—deserve a safe and respectful workplace. Customers, including school students, families, and the elderly, should feel confident and secure when visiting these shops. They do not—and have asked the RSNCW to take action on their behalf  

We may not have the high crime rates of other areas, but that is no reason to tolerate behaviour that lowers the standards we’ve worked hard to uphold—The RSNCW are frequently called upon to assist in reporting these incidents.  We need you, the management to step up and take control  

We demand the following immediate actions be implemented:

A visible, active security presence during afternoon and evening peak periods
Bans and trespass enforcement for individuals engaging in theft or disruptive conduct
Stronger police collaboration and timely follow-up of reported incidents. 
Zero-tolerance signage displayed clearly throughout the centre
