Increase Salary for Nurses in New South Wales

Increase Salary for Nurses in New South Wales
The issue
My relatives in the Shoalhaven area , like many others, have devoted their lives to nursing, going above and beyond to provide exemplary care in our community. However, they and their colleagues in New South Wales are not adequately rewarded for their efforts.
Nursing is a critical yet often undervalued facet of our healthcare system. Nurses are the backbone of patient care, providing round-the-clock support and medical attention. Despite their dedication and the nature of their job, underpayment remains a significant problem.
In 2024, the NSW state government offered 10.5% pay rise over 3 years , which was rejected by the New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) as it did not reflect the increased workload and the risks associated with this profession . This underscored the widespread issue of underpayment of nurses even when unprecedented health crises are putting them at the frontline. The pay is not on par with Queensland Nurses!
Public sector nurses and midwives in New South Wales are calling for justified and necessary improvements to help rebuild our public health services.
As part of these improvements, they are demanding a 17% pay increase, including superannuation, for all nurses and midwives .
Nurses also deserve a pay rise commensurate with their service, skills and the risks they undertake. Fair remuneration will not just acknowledge their invaluable contribution, but foster better patient care by reducing job dissatisfaction and the risks of burnout.
This petition urges the New South Wales government to revisit their current stance and adequately increase nurses' pay. Please sign this petition to show your support for our nurses & their Association to demand true & fair compensation . Please get your friends to sign . Sincere thanks from John , also many thanks from Anna & Blake .
