Increase police presence at Green Street Park
Increase police presence at Green Street Park
The Issue

Green Street Park is central to our community and is enjoyed by many of the young children living in the area. Every child deserves to have a secure, welcoming place where they can play freely and experience the joys of childhood. Sadly, our park, which should be a safe haven for our community's youth, has recently become an area of concern for parents and guardians.
Between the hours of 2:15 PM and 6:00 PM, older youth, seemingly with no place to go, have been noted to engage in aggressive behavior, which has at times escalated to the point of assaults on younger children. This unsettling situation has led to many parents feeling apprehensive about allowing their children to utilize the park during these hours. Such behavior is not only distressing but creates an environment of fear and uncertainty that shouldn't be experienced in our beloved community space.
A potential solution that has been discussed and which I firmly support is increasing police presence during these crucial hours. A visible security presence would act as a deterrent to unwanted behavior, helping ensure that Green Street Park remains a safe space for everyone. Several studies have shown that increased police visibility can significantly reduce crime rates and improve public safety, making this request both practical and effective.
Our community deserves a place where our children can socialize, play, and grow without fear. Reinforcing the law enforcement presence during these vital hours will not only protect our children but also reaffirm our commitment to maintaining Green Street Park as a sanctuary for play and laughter.
We urge the local council and law enforcement agencies to take swift and decisive action in addressing this issue. Let us work together to create a safer environment for our children today. Your support is crucial in demonstrating the importance of this matter to the decision-makers.
