The Issue

As the local County Councillor, I have seen increasing concern from residents about illegal parking on double yellow lines and the lack of consistent enforcement.

Across Wilford Lane and surrounding streets, vehicles are regularly parked in clear violation of restrictions. This creates serious safety risks, with obstructed pavements forcing pedestrians into the road and reduced visibility at junctions increasing the likelihood of accidents.

Despite repeated reports, enforcement is often absent. This undermines respect for the rules, encourages repeat offences, and leaves residents feeling ignored.

Increased funding for Parking Enforcement Officers would ensure proper enforcement, improve road safety, and protect vulnerable road users.

Our goal is simple: safer streets for everyone. I have raised this issue, and it is clear that the current level of enforcement is insufficient. The barrier is a lack of allocated resources.
