As a long-standing resident and manager of a waterfront community in Vancouver, I stand firsthand witness to the escalating problems of petty crime, theft, illegal driving, and noise disturbances caused, primarily, by disrespectful drivers. These disturbances have escalated to deeply unsettling levels, affecting our local businesses, residents, and visitors who are increasingly feeling threatened and at risk of injury.

Vancouver's Waterfront, especially between the hours 8:00PM and 3:00AM, has become an active hub for such undesirable activities. The lack of an efficient law enforcement presence during these crucial hours has facilitated this unwelcome transition. Our request for an increase in police patrols is a necessary step towards restoring peace, safety, and dignity for all who live and work here.

In 2020, the Vancouver Police Department reported a notable increase in general mischief and petty theft in the city, with the waterfront area standing out (Vancouver Police Department Annual Report, 2020). This highlights the urgent need for enhanced police vigilance and stricter enforcement of laws during these hours.
