Increase Marine Protection in South Africa to 10%.
The Issue
We are a group of grade 9 learners at Bishops Diocesan College and we are currently doing a project based learning curriculum called ‘Big Ideas’. We all love the ocean and want to make a change.
Only 5% of South Africa's ocean is protected and we need a minimum of 30% protection to stop biodiversity loss.
Biodiversity loss refers to the mass extinction of species in a certain habitat.
For our project we are trying to implement more Marine Protected Areas in the Western Cape to a total of 10% through our campaign and educating people through social media.
Help us take a step in achieving 30% Marine Protection by 2030.
