Increase funding for more diverse courses in both campuses
The Issue
At the beginning of the school year, I was ready to take AP Chemistry, art class, and studio band. Due to the inefficient teachers, low funding, and not enough students. I couldn't take the class, which affected my plans to gain exposure to music and art and earn college credit. Shortly after the semester was going to end, I had chosen elective classes such as cartooning, and once the semester started, it was shortly replaced with a study hall, due to inefficient students and teachers.
Both campuses are great places for students to grow, get exposed, and learn. Still, their potential to learn about music, art, and many more objectives is limited by the lack of funding and resources, which directly impacts the diversity and the number of classes available to take. Students like myself often struggle to learn more in life than education and to explore our interests because there are inefficient teachers in the courses we need, or simply because there aren't enough students to take the courses.
According to recent data, educational institutions that have an effective diversification of their course offerings have seen improved student satisfaction and success rates. The objective is not to provide classes, but it's about enriching our educational experience with courses that inspire and prepare us for the future. More funding can help ensure educational equity, allowing opportunities and enriching academic exposure. Instead of the average core classes, elective classes help us better understand what we may want in the future.
By advocating for increased funding, both campuses(Main and West) can expand their curriculum, hire more faculty, and improve facilities. This will not only benefit current students but also attract future students, contributing to the institution's prestige and competitiveness, and even more attraction/popularity within the Danbury High School for their objectives. We can make a difference by urging the Board of Education and local government(Mayor Alves) to allocate more resources for our educational future. The mission is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn and grow without facing roadblocks due to a lack of course availability.
Please join me in supporting this petition to help secure the future of our education in Danbury, Connecticut. Let us create an environment where academic diversity helps us plan early in college, not the exception, and dreaming of what we could have had. Sign the petition today to make our voice heard!
