The Issue

Petition to Expand Flock Safety Cameras in Henderson County

Henderson County continues to grow, and with that growth comes the need to invest in tools that help keep our communities safe. One proven technology being used by law enforcement agencies across North Carolina and the nation is the Flock Safety camera system.

Unlike traditional surveillance cameras, Flock cameras are designed to capture objective vehicle information—including license plate numbers, vehicle make, model, color, and other identifying characteristics. They are not used for continuous live monitoring of people, but instead provide investigators with valuable leads when crimes occur. These systems have helped recover stolen vehicles, locate missing persons, identify suspects, and solve crimes more quickly and efficiently.

Expanding the network of Flock cameras throughout Henderson County would provide local law enforcement with another effective investigative tool while improving coordination between neighboring jurisdictions. Strategic placement at key entrances, exits, and major corridors would strengthen public safety without requiring additional patrol staffing.

As our county continues to expand, we should be proactive rather than reactive. Investing in technology that assists law enforcement, protects businesses, and helps keep our neighborhoods safe is an investment in the future of Henderson County.

We respectfully call upon the Henderson County Board of Commissioners, the Hendersonville City Council, and our municipal leaders to prioritize funding for the expansion of Flock Safety cameras throughout the county.

By signing this petition, you are supporting a safer Henderson County through responsible investment in technology that assists law enforcement, deters criminal activity, and helps protect our families, businesses, and visitors.

Together, we can make Henderson County an even safer place to live, work, and raise a family.
