The Issue

I have recently been diagnosed with endometriosis, a condition affecting approximately 10% of women worldwide. This personal experience has opened my eyes to the stark reality that there is very little known about this debilitating disease and, even more disheartening, there is no known cure.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside it, causing severe pain and potentially leading to fertility issues. Despite its prevalence and impact on quality of life, research into endometriosis remains underfunded and overlooked.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States allocates less than $1 per person affected by endometriosis each year for research - a stark contrast when compared with other diseases affecting similar numbers of individuals.

We need more funding for research into understanding this complex disease better - its causes, potential treatments, and ultimately finding a cure. We need our healthcare professionals to be better educated about it so they can provide appropriate care without delay or misdiagnosis.

It's time we take endometriosis seriously. It's time we invest in health research that directly impacts millions of women worldwide. Please sign this petition urging increased funding for endometriosis research.
