Increase Funding for Alzheimer's Care Programs
The Issue
My mom loves to participate in word games, arts & crafts, & activities that keep her thinking. I treasure the moments when she smiles as she tries to figure out a word & decide what color to make a dog in a coloring book. It’s bittersweet, knowing that Alzheimer's makes these moments fleeting and rare. But even in the midst of her struggles, there’s a spark—an attempt to participate and have fun. This highlights the importance of meaningful engagements for those living with Alzheimer's and the critical need for resources to support them.
Alzheimer’s affects millions of families, challenging what we often take for granted: communication, understanding, and recognition. Caregivers like me witness the relentless progression of this disease and feel the burden of limited support. We need more funding for Alzheimer’s care programs—funds that can provide crucial resources to enhance the quality of life for patients and offer much-needed support to caregivers.
These programs can offer structured activities that promote cognitive engagement and emotional well-being, helping maintain dignity and joy in the lives of those impacted. Additionally, caregivers need access to training, respite programs, and counseling services to manage the emotional and physical stress of providing care. Increased funding will make these programs more widespread and accessible.
By bolstering resources, we can ensure that caregivers are supported, and patients can experience more moments of joy and connection, like the ones I cherish with my mom. We shouldn't just watch them fade; we should fight to make their remaining time meaningful and dignified.
Sign this petition to demand increased funding for Alzheimer's care programs, and let’s make a difference in the lives of those touched by this relentless disease.
