Increase bus frequency on Bidadi–Harohalli route
The Issue
Getting late for class every day because of the unreliable bus schedule on the Bidadi–Harohalli route is a frustration I face personally, and I know I'm not alone. As a student of Amruta Institute of Engineering and Management Sciences, I see this daily — the current lack of adequate bus services during morning peak hours is a significant inconvenience for many commuters, including students and workers who depend on public transportation.
The Bidadi–Harohalli route connects key residential and industrial areas in Bengaluru Rural District, making it crucial for daily commuters. Yet between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM — the busiest window for students and workers — the gap between buses stretches to 20–30 minutes, far too long for the volume of passengers travelling at this time. Buses arrive overfilled, travel conditions become unsafe and uncomfortable, and commuters, myself included, are persistently late. The problem extends into the afternoon too, where low frequency continues to strand passengers for long stretches, though the morning remains the most urgent gap.
Regular, reliable public transportation significantly improves quality of life — it boosts economic productivity by getting people to work and school on time, and reduces environmental impact by encouraging public transit over private vehicles. Cities worldwide have increased transit frequency and seen real gains in reduced congestion and improved air quality.
We are asking BMTC and KSRTC to:
Increase bus frequency between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM as the top priority — reducing the gap between buses from 20–30 minutes to 10–15 minutes.
Improve frequency during afternoon hours as well.
Deploy additional buses during both windows and review ridership data to make the change permanent.
Display the updated timetable at all stops.
An increase in bus frequency isn't just about convenience — it's about safety, economic efficiency, and environmental responsibility. On behalf of students at Amruta Institute of Engineering and Management Sciences and fellow commuters on this route, I'm calling on our local transport authorities to take swift action on this vital route. By signing, you're supporting a change that will benefit thousands who rely on public transport every day. Let's push for more frequent buses and make our commutes safer and more reliable.
