As someone who has spent a significant amount of time researching animal cruelty, I have seen firsthand the pain and suffering that animals endure. This issue is deeply personal to me, and I am speaking out on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves - the animals in distress. 

Animal cruelty refers to causing harm to an animal either through intentional actions or neglect. It encompasses a wide range of behaviors that are harmful to animals, from physical abuse to lack of proper care or shelter. The specific actions that constitute animal cruelty can vary widely from one place to another, as different countries and cultures have various laws and perceptions regarding the treatment of animals

In Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines - as in many parts of the world - animal cruelty is an ongoing issue that needs immediate attention. By adopting rescue animals, caring for our pets properly, teaching children to love animals from a young age, supporting animal rescues, avoiding products with animal testing, fostering pets when possible and reporting witnessed cases of animal cruelty safely; we can make a significant difference.

It's important to note that laws protecting animals do exist in our country. The Animal Welfare Act of 1998 (Republic Act No. 8485) criminalizes torture and other forms of cruelty towards all kinds of animals (Source: Philippine Laws). However enforcement remains weak due to lack of awareness among citizens.

Let's work together to raise awareness about this pressing issue and encourage everyone around us to take action against animal cruelty. It starts with each one us making small changes in our daily lives which can collectively lead to a big impact on improving the welfare conditions for these innocent beings.
