Increase Awareness and Education about Huntington's Disease Among Healthcare Professionals
The Issue
I am a person deeply affected by Huntington's Disease, a rare and incurable condition that has not only impacted my life but also the lives of my family members and many others across our nation. Despite its severity, it is alarming to realize how little this disease is known or understood within the healthcare community. This lack of knowledge often leads to patients being passed from pillar to post, with limited support due to the scarcity of information.
I had my own accident back in June 2023 and resulted in me loosing 2/4 of my large bowl this injury has made me stronger and more determined to help people in the way I didn't recieve. Help is out there but it's getting people to understand more about rare diseases like this one. Please read sign and understand why I'm doing this. My son nearly lost his mam because getting passed about and nobody understanding.
Huntington's Disease affects approximately 1 in every 10,000 people in the United States (source: National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke). However, despite these numbers, it remains under-researched and under-discussed within our health system. This needs to change.
We are calling on all healthcare professionals - doctors, specialists, social workers - to make an effort towards understanding this disease better. We need more research into Huntington’s Disease so that those suffering from it can receive appropriate care without feeling dismissed or neglected.
The time has come for us as a nation to start talking about this devastating disease openly. By doing so we can ensure that no one suffering from Huntington’s feels alone or unheard again. Please sign this petition if you believe in promoting better education about rare diseases like Huntington’s among our healthcare professionals.
Please sign the petition and help and support please whom are suffering with this disease
