Animals in our society face unnecessary harm due to human actions. Today, the fine for such irresponsible and harmful actions stands at a meagre 50 Rs – an amount so small that it fails to deter perpetrators from inflicting animal harm. It's high time we revised these fines and made them proportional to the seriousness of the crime. We are calling to raise the fine for animal cruelty to at least 10,000 Rs. This increase would not only provide justice for the countless animals impacted by heinous acts but also act as a strong deterrent for potential offenders. According to the Animal Welfare Board of India, cruelty cases have seen an alarming rise over the years, indicating an urgent need for improved regulations and penalties.
