The Issue
To Whom It May Concern,
We, the undersigned residents and customers of the City of Tyler, Texas, respectfully submit this petition to express our serious concerns regarding the current water billing practices implemented by City of Tyler Water Utilities.
Over time, many residents have experienced significantly increased water bills that appear disproportionate to actual usage. These increases have placed an undue financial burden on households, particularly during times of economic strain. Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding:
Lack of transparency in billing calculations
Sudden and unexplained rate increases
Inconsistent meter readings and potential inaccuracies
Limited communication or support when disputing charges
Insufficient public notice regarding changes in rates or policies
Access to clean and affordable water is a basic necessity, not a luxury. As residents and paying customers, we believe we deserve fair, transparent, and accountable utility practices.
We respectfully request the following actions:
A full audit and review of current billing practices and rate structures
Increased transparency in how water usage and charges are calculated
Independent verification of meter accuracy and billing systems
Improved customer service and dispute resolution processes
Public forums or town hall meetings to address community concerns
Consideration of rate adjustments or relief programs for affected residents
