Inclusion of Child Abuse Awareness Education in School Curriculum

The Issue

SACSHAM Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse. We believe that this grim issue is preventable and is not an inevitable part of society. Supporting this belief, we actively conduct awareness workshops focused on preventing Child Sexual Abuse at schools, colleges, and NGOs.

However, this is not enough. We need systemic institutional change. That is why we urge for the integration of Child Abuse Awareness Education in the school curriculum. Engrossing statistics reveal that 1 in 7 girls and 1 in 25 boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18 [Townsend, C. & Rheingold, A.A, Journal of Child Sexual Abuse]. We believe that proactive education can play a significant role in decreasing these disheartening numbers.

Child sexual abuse, is a grave issue that affects children across all demographics. Many children are unaware of how to identify and respond to inappropriate behavior, making them vulnerable to exploitation. Early education on this topic is crucial in empowering children to protect themselves and seek help when needed.

An inclusion of a comprehensive Child Abuse Awareness Education in the school curriculum will:

Empower Children: Equip them with the knowledge to recognize and avoid potentially harmful situations.
Prevent Abuse: Proactively reduce the incidence of child abuse through awareness and education.
Create a Safe Environment: Promote a school culture that prioritizes the safety and well-being of every child.

Our children deserve to be informed, safe, and supported as they navigate their formative years. We believe that this initiative will not only protect our children but also create a more informed and compassionate society.

We seek your support in making this change a reality. By signing this petition, you can help prevent countless untold stories of abuse and ensure the safety of our children.

Thank you,

Team Sacsham.
