Inclusion & Diversity in Education Institutions

The issue

https://gofund.me/30f2f001

Countless individuals within the Autism, ADHD & Bipolar Disorders are directly impacted by the lack of inclusion and diversity in higher education institutions. Students, faculty, and staff face numerous challenges in academic settings, from limited accessibility to a lack of understanding and support. The absence of tailored resources and accommodations significantly hinders their ability to thrive within the educational environment.

What's at stake is not just the educational experience of those with ADHD & Autism but also their overall well-being and success. Without a change in the current landscape, individuals with ADHD & Autism may continue to feel marginalised, face higher rates of academic difficulties, and struggle with mental health challenges. On the contrary, by fostering an inclusive and diverse environment, we stand to unlock the potential of these individuals, providing equal opportunities for success and personal growth.

Now is the time to act because fostering inclusion and diversity is not merely an option but a necessity for the growth and progress of our educational institutions. Immediate action is crucial to dismantle barriers that hinder the educational journey of those with ADHD& Autism By implementing inclusive policies, offering tailored support, and raising awareness, we can create an environment where everyone, regardless of their neurodiversity, can excel academically and contribute meaningfully to the community.

Sign this petition to urge higher education institutions to prioritise and implement inclusive policies for individuals within the ADHD & Autism

STOP THE NEGATIVE MYTH AND DAMAGING STIGMA!

CONSISTENT MESSAGING FROM GOVERNMENT

IS NEEDED NOW!

The Australian GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO UPDATE and show CONSISTENCY of SCIENTIFIC FACTS and MEDICAL-BASED EVIDENCE, on ALL GOVERNMENT RESOURCES, ESPECIALLY WEBSITES AND SOCIAL MEDIA, in order for people, their families and carers who suffer these neurological disorders to understand, manage and obtain appropriate support to overcome challenges of these bio-neurological disorders.

WE CANNOT MOVE FORWARD WITH MIXED MESSAGES!

Many Government departments and bodies have conflicting information.

ADHD = ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER is a bio-neurological disorder and is the result of insufficient levels of brain chemicals, which is not 'Naturally' within the control of the sufferer.

ADHD IS NOT CURABLE AND IS NOT 'JUST' A CHILDHOOD DISORDER, more than 60% suffer into adulthood.

ADHD has some of the same genes as ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

ADHD has many overlapping symptoms of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

ADHD is wrongly and ignorantly put in the category of 'behaviour' disorder.

ASD is confirmed as a bio-neurological disorder that has a significant impact on the individual and their families. ADHD should be the same but it is not.

ADHD is recognised under the World Health Organisation as a bio-neurological disorder
