As an individual of Kurdish descent, I, alongside many others, feel a deep sense of ethnic pride and identity. However, this pride feels constrained when simple markers of identity, such as our flag, are missing in one of the most widely used communication tools of our generation - the emoji keyboard. The flag of Kurdistan, an emblem of our culture and history, is glaringly absent from these platforms promoting inclusivity.

It should be noted that as per the Unicode Consortium, there are already 268 flag emojis (source: Emojipedia). Despite this extensive representation, the flag of the sizable Kurdish population, estimated to be over 35 million (source: World Population Review), is conspicuously absent.

This omission affects the sense of belonging for many Kurdish individuals like me seeking digital inclusivity. By including the Kurdish flag in these platforms, the spirit of digital inclusivity can truly be lived up to.

Signing this petition helps to assert that the recognition of cultural diversity should not be limited to physical borders. The digital realm should reflect our world's vast and vibrant diversity.
