Emojis symbolize expression used by millions daily. Most ethnic & national flags are represented in the emoji catalog, but the Black American Heritage Flag is noticeably absent. This flag, designed by Melvin Charles and Gleason T. Jackson, is a strong representation of the embedded history and culture of Black American history. 

This petition is for the Black American Heritage Flag to be recognized by Unicode and emoji creators. To appreciate the rich and diverse culture by including the Black American Heritage Flag. 

To create a new emoji, a proposal has to be submitted to Unicode. This is a detailed document that shows there is public demand for your emoji and that it's a new and innovative suggestion. This petition will be part of that documentation.
