The Issue

This petition is not just about changing a process. It is about the very heart of our Bristol CT School System—the selection of our next superintendent who will directly affect the future of education in our community. This matter is personally critical to us as it will shape the quality of education our children will receive moving forward.

Considering the crucial role of a superintendent in making important decisions affecting Bristol schools, it is paramount that those with keen insight into the needs of our district—our school administrators and principals—be included on the interview committee.

To further ensure fair representation, the selected administrators and principals should be chosen by their peers, without any interference from the Board of Education. This suggestion is not only feasible but also a common practice in many U.S school districts (National Association of Secondary School Principals, 2020).

By adopting this precedent, we can pave the way for a more collaborative approach to superintendent selection.

Please join us in calling on the Bristol CT Board of Education to include school administrators and principals in the superintendent interview and hiring process.  Please sign this petition today as time is of the essence.

Thank you
