The Issue

I'm representing the proud people of Sardinia, Sicily, and Corsica, islands blessed with their own distinct culture, traditions, and flags, a symbol of our unity and shared heritage. For us, our flags are more than just colorful designs on cloth. They exemplify our identity and resilience. But today, we're in a digital age where a significant portion of our communications happen online, using devices like ones from Apple Inc.

Sadly, our flags are missing from the numerous emojis on Apple's devices. We deserve our flag emojis as much as any other country or region, for example, the Isle of Man, an island between Ireland and Great Britain has its own emoji. An interesting piece of trivia – since this particular emoji bears a resemblance to the flag of Sicily due to its three-legged design, many of the Sicilians have been compelled to use it to express their nationality.

We believe it's time Apple acknowledges our request, which not only caters to the inhabitants of these islands but also to the significant diasporic communities globally. By doing so, they can play their part in promoting cultural diversity and inclusion in this digital era. Let's make them hear our voice. Please sign and share this petition, call for Apple to include our flag emojis in their devices. Stand with us for our digital identity!
