I am deeply concerned as I observe the fragmentation occurring in our country's sociopolitical fabric. The incitement of violent and divisive behavior has been palpable, and many link this deterioration to the influence of President Donald Trump. His actions and words have not only polarized our nation, but also posed a danger to our democratic values. The Federal Bureau of Investigation defines domestic terrorism as "violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature" (Source: FBI). It is hard to deny that some of Trump's actions mirror this description.

Adding former President Trump to the terrorist watch list will set a strong example that no one is above the law, not even the President. It would underline our commitment to preserving the sanctity of our democratic values and send a clear signal to anyone attempting to undermine them.
