The Issue

Having children attending multiple schools often means a chaotic schedule for parents, and I am no exception. With several kids scattered across various educational institutions, the logistical puzzle can be daunting, particularly when trying to ensure that each child starts their day smoothly. My oldest child has to be on the bus the same time I’m coming back from school , which means I'm constantly juggling to find additional transportation just for him.

Relying on friends and family, though appreciated, is not a sustainable solution. The stress of trying to coordinate rides every morning significantly impacts our family life. This burden, shared by numerous other parents in our community, could be greatly alleviated by simply extending the existing school bus services to include pre-kindergarten students.

The inclusion of these young learners in the school bus services would not only streamline daily routines for countless families but also enhance the safety and consistency of school attendance for our children. Public schools across the nation benefit from including pre-kindergarteners in transport services, reducing unnecessary strain on parents while promoting early childhood education.

Statistics show that school-based transportation significantly increases student attendance rates, especially in early education, which is crucial for development. Implementing this change in our district would not require extensive resources, as routes already exist and could accommodate younger children with slight modifications.

We urge the local school board and district administrators to take immediate action in reassessing their transportation policies to include pre-kindergarten students on school bus routes. Emphasizing the importance of accessible education from an early age can only lead to positive outcomes for our children and community. Please join us in supporting this vital change by signing this petition.
