Twitter followers growing

We now have just over 340 followers on Twitter @IOSNTwelve which is great. Please note that we also highlight other factors that effect our campaign and other school places in Barnet. The fact that Barnet Council continue to relentlessly give the green light to flat building while not building schools = oversubscription at every primary school in N12. The fact that the school run is so dangerous, plus cracked pavements, congestion, pollution, and did you know that some parents are losing 55 lost working days per year thanks to 2 one-hour school runs per day outside of their community and £900 a year in bus fares! Is that fair!? No! Local schools should be for local children. The lack of cycle lanes, obesity matters and lots more. Being able to walk to a local school is common sense, Barnet Council knew the population was growing back in 1997. It hasn't stopped growing, did they build schools? No, they built flats. Barnet council are on the side of investors, developers and landlords even granting retrospective planning permission after construction! But, will they admit that they made a mistake with the Moss Hall Infant School catchment map by including a large secondary school in the boundary, rather than including OUR streets where children do actually live? We'll see. We are trying and we know we are RIGHT. The map is wrong and hasn't been amended for 5 years despite the Barnet population growing in that time by a massive 70,000+. We are now the most populated borough in London and we are the MOST polluted outer London Borough! Barnet Council are proud that every child got a school place, but ask them how many parents got their first choice place? and how many ended up at their 5th and 6th choice school inevitably miles from home and choice 1. With no school bus, you have to drive or get a bus or train, it impacts income and health. One hour each way and £900 is unaffordable, exhausting and depressing. In London you now need to live within 750metres of a school to guarantee a place! With the population rising daily and more plans to build more houses, that 750metres is only going to shrink causing more pollution, congestion, anger and frustration! We met with the Finchley & Golders Green Area Committee recently thanks to the 220+ named petition that was sent to Barnet Council as part of the School Admission consultation - thank you to everyone who signed. They could not make a decision and referred our case to the Children, Education, Libraries & Safeguarding Committee, the same committee that are destroying our libraries! The campaign continues, we will not give up. Please continue to promote our campaign via social media and word of mouth.
