The issue

We are a grassroots youth network based in Western Sydney calling on the NSW Parliament to urgently expand and modernize state anti-vilification frameworks. Specifically, we urge lawmakers to implement robust civil protections against Islamophobia and religious vilification, holding digital platforms accountable and establishing safe, accessible reporting pathways for vulnerable communities.
Currently, a dangerous regulatory vacuum exists between state and federal enforcement, leaving minor children unprotected in digital spaces. Online agitators are actively exploiting these loopholes to operate harmful online "parody cults" (such as the movement known as "Meowism" run by the creator "Meowbahh"). These anonymous actors utilize child-like digital avatars to target, recruit, and expose minor children on mainstream gaming and social platforms like Roblox and Discord to severe anti-Islamic and anti-Christian hate speech. This includes the public desecration of holy texts and the use of malicious historical tropes to vilify the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Worse yet, these actors utilize third-party financial platforms like Patreon to commercially monetize and profit off targeted community harassment. When community members stand up to this behavior, creators resort to digital intimidation in direct messages to demand silence.
Why this matters:
True change requires structural, systemic accountability rather than relying solely on the expansion of criminal hate crime laws, which can carry unintended consequences for community expression. We advocate for a comprehensive legislative response that prioritizes civil vilification protections, effective regulation of online platforms, and properly resourced community safety tools.
We have already taken formal action by lodging comprehensive evidence files and securing tracked case references with:
The Office of the eSafety Commissioner (Under Illegal and Restricted Content pathways)
The Islamophobia Register Australia (With intelligence routed to law enforcement)

We are gathering our initial target of 50 signatures to demonstrate clear, organized community solidarity. The momentum from this petition—combined with our active regulatory case numbers—will be delivered directly to the office of Dr. Amanda Cohn MLC, Sue Higginson MP, and the NSW Greens to fuel the parliamentary push for comprehensive, safe, and equitable anti-vilification frameworks that force digital platforms to protect our communities.
Sign this petition to stand up for human dignity, protect minor children from online exploitation, and demand system-wide equity under NSW law.
