The Issue

Only Heathrow Terminal 4 trains currently stop at Acton Main Line Station, whilst services to Terminal 5, Maidenhead, and Reading bypass our station entirely. This creates severe overcrowding, with passengers unable to board peak-hour services and facing 15-minute waits for equally packed trains, unable to board. Additionally, the station closes on some Sundays, completely cutting off our community from rail services. We petition for all Elizabeth Line services to stop at Acton Main Line Station.

Who Is Affected?

Thousands of Acton residents face daily transport issues due to inadequate Elizabeth Line services. Working families struggle to reach their jobs on time as peak-hour trains are so overcrowded that passengers regularly cannot board, forcing them to wait 15 minutes for the next service - which is often equally packed. Vulnerable residents are particularly disadvantaged, unable to compete for space on overcrowded carriages. On Sundays, planned station closures completely isolate our community from rail services, even when Elizabeth Line trains are running on adjacent sections, cutting off families from visiting relatives and accessing essential services across London.

What Is at Stake?

If the current situation continues, our growing population (boosted by new housing developments) will face worsening overcrowding and longer journey times, making basic commuting increasingly difficult. The environmental cost will be significant as frustrated residents abandon public transport for private cars, undermining London’s climate goals. However, if all Elizabeth Line services stop at Acton Main Line, our community will gain equal access to opportunities across the capital. Better service distribution will reduce overcrowding system-wide, benefiting all passengers.

Why Is Now the Time to Act?

The Elizabeth Line has been operational for a few years, yet Acton remains underserved whilst the network continues to expand. Our population is growing rapidly through new developments, making existing overcrowding worse each month. The infrastructure is already in place - Acton Main Line Station can accommodate Elizabeth Line services, making this a cost-effective operational change rather than an expensive infrastructure project. Transport for London is currently reviewing service patterns and frequencies across the network, presenting a crucial window of opportunity for our community to secure better services.

Delaying action means accepting years more of transport inequality whilst neighbouring areas enjoy superior connectivity. The longer we wait, the more entrenched current service patterns become, making future changes increasingly difficult. Our community has waited long enough - we need immediate action to ensure Acton receives its fair share of London’s flagship rail service.

Sign this petition for transport equality for Acton residents and secure Elizabeth Line services on all westbound routes.
This petition represents the collective voice of Acton residents, commuters, local businesses, and all those who believe in fair and efficient public transport for all Londoners.
