Tom Oliverson, M.D. has proposed a bill that is in direct opposition to the values of our country.

I stand against HB-3717, a harmful proposition introduced by State Majority Leader Tom Oliverson of Texas. This proposition has the potential to devastate the rights and lives of trans persons across the state, criminalizing their very existence by making it a felony for them to identify as trans to their employers or any government entity. 

This goes beyond bans in women's sports, or not letting Trans Women go into the locker rooms of their preferred gender.This goes beyond the concerns that many Republicans have about things like "Drag Story Hour".

This bill represents Dr. Oliversons blinding and bitter hatred for an already vulnerable minority. And as he is calling for their erasure in public life, this bill also displays just how Transphobic Oliverson is.

This bill also accounts for a Severe Escalation in anti-trans movements happening all over our nation. Criminalizing the very existence of Trans Folks, 

Those found in breach of this disturbing proposition could face imprisonment and a staggering $10,000 fine for merely asserting their identity. Effectively erasing them from public life, out of fear.

Thankfully, this demeaning and dangerous bill does not have the support of any co-sponsor. It is a solo endeavor on the part of Dr. Oliverson, revealing a shocking disregard for civil liberties and an astonishing lack of empathy. Oliverson claims to be a devout Christian, but actions like this are in direct contrast to the morality demonstrated to us by Jesus in his time on earth. If he doesn't resign, I hope for the sake of his soul that he repents.

The inherent bias and adversity present in this initiative are an affront to not only the trans community itself, but to everyone who values human rights, dignity, and equality. 

Considering the severe and potentially life-altering implications of this measure, it becomes clear that someone with such views and intentions should not be in a leadership position in any form of government. Therefore, we demand the immediate resignation of State Majority Leader Tom Oliverson from his role in the Texas State Senate.

This is not just about a single unfavorable bill, but a reflection of the harmful ideology that guides its formation. Oliverson has proposed anti-trans bills in the past
