On the Corniche, the longest bench in the world risks losing its mosaics

Le problème

Art therapist and mosaic artist, I work since 11 years to the development of creativity among people in difficulty and of artistic and citizen projects for public areas.

My project "Marseille Mosaïque", consists in covering the corniche Kennedy benches with Mediterranean color mozaics illustrating all facets of Marseille. Performed by schoolchildren, nursing home residents, students and any interested Marseille people, 1160 people have already been involved in this project.

The specifications of the project presented the first time in July 2015 clearly states that: "the laying of the mosaic consists in using cement and that it will be definitive".

I obtained a first agreement for 4 benches, after which both Marseille and Aix-Marselle Provence metropolis services gave new authorizations to "Marseille Mosaïque" for 25 benches in total.

However, after the last laying of the 12th bench, I received a call and an e-mail from the 1/7 districts Borough Hall asking me to remove all.

Thanks to this petition and to media, this threat is no longer valid. However, Mme Bernasconi, mayor of Borough Hall ask me to cover a 13th bench and to stop.

Out of respect for the creators, I wish my authorization for 25 benches (and not 13) was fulfilled. I will meet the municipality the 8th of June to get satisfaction.

I therefore call upon everyone to sign my petition to maintain "Marseille Mosaïque" project which creates social cohesion between Marseille people, proud to contribute to the prestige of their city.
