In light of the recent Equal Marriage Rights vote in Ireland, it's about time that Australia followed suit. Tony Abbott, allow the people of Australia to vote for marriage equality.
The issue
Tony Abbott believes that it's the role of the Australian Parliament to decide on whether Australia should have equal marriage rights. What he fails to see, time and time again, is that we are a democratic nation. We can make our own decisions.
Whilst in Brisbane recently, Tony Abbott made it known that the Australian people cannot make a decision for themselves. In fact, he said that marriage equality was a choice of the Australian Parliament.
Well, we've all seen what a mess our country is in from allowing the current government to make its own choices. Here's a list if you need a reminder.

As of December 2014, there are 14,988,486 people registered to vote. If we were to hold a referendum, more than half of the country would need to vote yes. This means over 7,494,243 votes.
Let's make it clear. Can we have 7.5 million Australians raise their hand in favour of marriage equality for Australians?
This petition will be presented to Tony Abbott's Sydney office when we've proven that we can tip the country in favour of marriage equality. More than 7.5 million voices is a compelling case and cannot be ignored.
Let's make this happen. It's time.
