Hard working creators are getting false DMCA'd with no proof against them and their shops are being taken down. Some people don't have the money or income to afford to counter mass false DMCA's. Not everyone has a fair chance before being disabled, products taken down, and/or creator rights taken away. There is a large amount of cruel people who DMCA just for not liking the creator. All they do is false DMCA, then refile if the creator keeps uploading, even when the product uploaded is not stolen and has nothing to do with them at all. It is way too easy to get someone's shop taken down or creator rights taken away or disabled. This can happen to anyone and anybody's shop with a few clicks. People doing this can diminish the functionality of IMVU, and possibly at some point cause IMVU to shut down. This NEEDS to stop sooner or later.

IMVU staff should thoroughly review PSD's, PNGS, etc.. before even taking a product down. There should be a specific department for DMCA debates and situations to be handled. As a functioning website, IMVU needs to cooperate with creators that help this site function. They need to listen to their users so that the site can function better and everyone gets along better. Everyone deserves a fair chance at fighting for their hard work, even if they did steal, they will get caught through the process. Everyone should have the right to defend their shop that they work hard on, sometimes losing sleep for and stressing for.

I started this petition because...
My IMVU username is toosad. I'm relatively new to the creator community, but I have experienced my fair share of these types of people who false DMCA. I know a handful of close friends who have been mass false DMCA'd. One of them lives in fear of uploading again just to get false DMCA'd and disabled, the person who did this mass false DMCA told her that she will keep refiling if she counters, and if she uploads one or more things she will DMCA. I was told by IMVU staff that if she gets DMCA'd again, she will be disabled. Also, another friend of mine almost in the same month was mass false DMCA'd. Over 200 products were DMCA'd, over ONE thing that was claimed to be stolen. Not only are these situations and allegations stressful for them, because they love creating and making products not just for fun but for money as well, it is disheartening to me as a new creator and to all other creators high tier and low tier. No one should have to strain this much for their shop that could be taken away so quickly that they spend countless hours working so diligently on. It truly messes with your heart and mind. Genuine creators that are well known and loved could be taken away so easily just because someone may not like them. Let's be honest. No one keeps their old product PSD's.. So therefore these people target old products knowing that they most likely won't have those PSD's. Seeing this occur more and more often is truly upsetting to consumers and producers. Eventually creators will give up and leave the website for good.
