Improving Education in Madagascar

Improving Education in Madagascar
The Issue
Across the country of Madagascar, only 4% of students aged 6-10 can read a simple paragraph. Children do not have a strong foundation of math or reading. Without possessing the fundamental skills meant to be taught at a young age, these children struggle with finding a job and sustaining themselves as adults.
If the quality of education in Madagascar does not change, future generations will also be the same. Some of the same children being taught right now will become teachers in the future. Data from the Education Policy and Data Center (epdc.org) shows that less than 4% of primary school teachers have the knowledge required to teach their students. If children do not receive better education, the next generation will struggle even more with receiving a proper education.
It is important to act now because Madagascar's current youth will grow up to influence future generations and it is essential that Madagascar is not stuck in a cycle where children receive a bad education. Secondly, the world is developing rapidly and Madagascar is already behind. If we do not act now, Madagascar will not develop successfully. Please sign this petition to raise awareness of the education challenges in Madagascar and support Malagasy students.
