Improve Waste Management Systems in Isabela, Philippines

Improve Waste Management Systems in Isabela, Philippines
The Issue
My name is Juan, a resident of Isabela, Philippines. I have seen firsthand the consequences of inadequate waste management systems in our community. Our streets are littered with trash and our rivers are polluted with waste materials that pose a threat to both human health and the environment.
The lack of proper waste management facilities has led to an increase in illegal dumping sites which further exacerbate the problem. According to a 2019 report by the Philippine Statistics Authority, only 30% of all municipalities in the country have access to sanitary landfill facilities while others rely on open dumpsites which are harmful and illegal.
This situation is not only damaging our beautiful landscapes but also poses serious health risks. The World Health Organization states that improper waste disposal can lead to various diseases such as respiratory problems, skin irritations, and even more severe conditions like cancer.
We need urgent action from local government officials to address this issue. We call for improved waste management systems including increased access to sanitary landfill facilities, stricter enforcement against illegal dumping activities and public education campaigns about responsible waste disposal practices.
Let's work together for a cleaner and healthier Isabela. Please sign this petition today.
