Every day, as a parent navigating traffic around Railroad Canyon Elementary School in Lake Elsinore, I am faced with worsening traffic that puts children and their guardians at risk. Inattentive drivers frequently obstruct the designated pedestrian walkways, creating an unsafe environment for everyone attempting to get to school safely.  

Several parents and crossing guards have witnessed close calls where children are narrowly hit by vehicles. Many times vehicles are blocking their path or cutting the drop off line. We are appealing to the City of Lake Elsinore and Lake Elsinore Unified School District directly for action to be taken.

We propose implementing safety measures to address these issues.

First, we suggest:

• Increased police patrolling during peak hours to monitor and regulate traffic flow. 
• Installing signage to guide drivers and remind them of no-parking zones. 
• Strategically placed bollards or barriers which physically prevent vehicles from encroaching on pedestrian walkways.
• Installing a stop sign or blocking access to thru traffic on empty private lots.  
• LEUSD purchasing the empty private lot and creating proper school parking.

It's imperative that our community comes together for change. We urge LEUSD, the City of Lake Elsinore traffic management and Lake Elsinore City Council to take immediate action to ensure the safety of our children.
