We are nearly at 30 signatures, remember that this isn't just a a petition for Tillsonburg; it is for the communities affected by Tillsonburg.
Bayham Municipality lost its only transit system, with people from Port Burwell, Straffordville, Edan and Vianna losing a connection to London for college or other. Lambton county wants to create a inter-community transit from Sarnia to Forest, Kettle & Stony Point First Nation, Grand Bend, Bayfield, Dashwood, Exeter, Hensall, Zurich, Huron Park, Parkhill, Ailsa Craig, Goderich, and London.
Back in 2018, Woodstock Council refused to support the North Oxford Transit proposal, arguing that the County shouldn’t be running transit. The numbers they used at the time—like saying it would be “cheaper to pay for cab fare”—might have sounded reasonable then, but with today’s prices, that argument just doesn’t hold up. For anyone without a car, transportation costs have only gotten worse, not better.
Realistically, a sustainable regional transit system needs cooperation between the County, Woodstock, and nearby towns. The problem isn’t that people don’t want transit — it’s that the planning, funding, and communication have never been properly aligned. If Tillsonburg can make its model work by starting small and scaling responsibly, then there’s no reason Oxford County can’t do the same.
This petition isn’t just about “bringing T:GO back.” It’s about finally making it work right this time — with proper planning, awareness, and coordination so people actually know the service exists and can rely on it.
Because at the end of the day, this isn’t only about buses — it’s about connection. Access to jobs, education, healthcare, and community life shouldn’t depend on whether you can afford a car. We need to start viewing transit as infrastructure for opportunity, not an optional expense.
If the region truly wants to grow and keep people connected, cooperation is the only sustainable way forward.
