Improve the water safety in Ontario Parks - Sandbanks

The Issue

This petition is mostly focoused on advocating for the water safety at the Sandbanks park, but if this petition gets big enough we can hopely put some of these precautions in place at camping parks all around Ontario.

I would like to start off by saying that there has already been many cases of people dying or going missing at the Ontario Parks. Just earlier this year, in July, a 66 year old woman was found in the water at the Sandbanks outlet beach. She was unresponsive and was pulled from the water. She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced died. Last year a 6 year old boy went missing at the Sandbanks outlet beach. He was last seen in the water and it wasn't specified whether or not he was found.

The woman who died - The little boy who went missing

This is just at the outlet beach but there are many more cases of people dying at other parts of Sandbanks and at other Ontario Parks. If we don't put precautions in place to help lower these instances then more and more people will be victims of the dangerous waters.

There are ways to help the parks' waters to become safer for swimmers like: putting up more safety signs, putting up flags or signs where it is safe to swim, having message boards and/or staff saying if there are dangerous swimming conditions during the day, etc. But for these thing to be put in place, we need to show the government that we care about the people who have died and those that will continue to be at risk if the government continues to turn their heads to this issue.
