I am a student in a local school in New York, NY, USA and I can never eat lunch at school because it simply isn't up to standard. This is not just my personal struggle; many students in our school share the same sentiment. The quality of food served in our cafeteria leaves much to be desired and it's high time we address this issue.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), healthy eating can help students achieve better grades, better school attendance, and improve cognitive performance. Yet, despite these known benefits, our local schools continue to provide meals that are often unappetizing and lack nutritional value.

We call on the New York Department of Education to review their current food service providers and take immediate action towards improving meal quality. Our children deserve access to nutritious meals that will fuel their learning journey.
