As a parent of three daughters living on the Wybers, I often find ourselves traveling far from our home in search of desirable parks. It's not for lack of local option; we have a park right here along Great Coates Road, but it leaves a lot to be desired. Our local park, small and in poor condition, could be transformed into a valuable asset for our community. This park has the potential to be a beautiful setting for picnics, events, and a secure space where children can freely play.

Enhancing the existing park not only benefits our family but every family in the neighborhood that lacks access to sufficient recreational spaces. Quality parks can improve mental and physical health of children and adults alike; studies indicate that children with access to quality parks are 20% less likely to be obese (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). The wellbeing of our community is clearly tied to the quality of our public spaces.

Improving our local park will foster community strength, encourage outdoor activities, and provide an environment for our children to create great memories.
