Improve the family court system to better protect children and families

Improve the family court system to better protect children and families
The Issue
Parents across the Frolo community consistently report the same problems when navigating the family justice system: inaccurate or inconsistent professional notes, unrecorded interviews, delays caused by administrative errors, poor communication between agencies, and a lack of trauma-informed understanding. These issues place unnecessary strain on families and can significantly negatively affect the emotional wellbeing of children.
To better protect children and support families, we call on the Ministry of Justice, the Department for Education, Cafcass and HMCTS to implement the following specific, actionable improvements:
1.Mandatory recording of all interviews with children and parents. To ensure accuracy, transparency and safeguarding integrity.
2. A unified, secure digital system for sharing case information across agencies so that courts, Cafcass, social care, Early Help and schools work from the same verified information.
3. Trauma-informed and coercive control training for all professionals involved in family justice
Including Cafcass, social workers, Early Help teams and school safeguarding staff.
4. Accuracy checks for all professional reports, with a requirement for professionals to confirm they have reviewed the full case chronology and safeguarding history
5. Modernised case management to reduce delays and administrative failures. Including improved digital scheduling, reliable routing of applications and timely progression of cases.
These changes are practical, achievable and urgently needed. A family justice system must be accurate, transparent, trauma-informed and efficient to truly protect children and support families.
Please sign this petition to call for these essential improvements.
If you can please also share Your Experience (Anonymous Survey)
To help build a clearer, evidence-based picture of what families are experiencing within the family court system, Frolo has created a 3–5 minute anonymous survey for anyone who has navigated the process.
Your responses will remain completely anonymous, and the insights gathered will help support this petition and inform a wider community-led report.
