Petition updateImprove Sunbury's Bus ServiceThe wheels on the bus......

As if to prove a point, I worked from the office yesterday. This saw me travel by bus from home to the station at 7.30am and home from the station at aprox 6.30pm.

On both instances, the train to and from the city were pulled in at platform 2.

It struck me as grossly unfair and insensitive that to anyone with mobility issues, there is simply not enough time to move between a train and a bus when the train is at platform 2.

There's been voice in the community for a long time for an elevator at Sunbury station but this is seemingly ignored.

The solution in 2 fold.

More frequent busses would mean that if you missed a bus, another wouldn't be far away. But this idea is shot down by the politicians who say that the ridership in Sunbury is too low to warrant more bus runs.

I understand this, but this can be solved by delving a new model bus network that provides access to those who need it, when they need it. Yesterdays bus driver was quoted to have said "I never have a full bus".

The other option whilst we wait for an elevator at Sunbury Station would be for Ben Carroll MP and Josh Bull MP to provide a golf cart like shuttle over the bridge, equipped to carry someone's bags, groceries, or mobility aides as well.

This is done and done well by the MCG who provide a shuttle to those who need it between Richmond Station and the MCG.

Instead, those that need help, generally speaking our aging community - are just forgotten about.
