As a regular skater at Slough Ice Arena, I have had to witness a distressing rise in car break-ins outside this community favourite. Many of my friends and fellow skaters have been affected. This growing concern has instilled a sense of fear and unease among us, making some reconsider their visits to the rink, which is not just disheartening but may also impact the rink's business negatively.

Slough Ice Arena is meant to be a safe haven where families, young athletes, and enthusiasts come to enjoy skating. However, the current security situation at the car park jeopardizes this sense of safety. The majority of those targeted by these break-ins include young females and families, making this issue even more pressing and concerning.

Statistics reveal that areas with proper security monitoring experience significantly reduced crime rates. Introducing CCTV cameras and increasing security patrols around Slough Ice Arena's car park is a feasible and effective solution. Evidence from other communities shows that these measures deter criminal activities and provide peace of mind to the community members.

We urge the Slough Council to invest in enhancing the security infrastructure at the car park. By doing so, it ensures that all users of the rink can feel safe and secure, thereby preserving the arena’s reputation as a trusted community space.
