Improve security and address homelessness at Dunlap Condominiums
Improve security and address homelessness at Dunlap Condominiums
The Issue
Residents of Dunlap Condominiums are living in a state of constant fear due to the persistent security issues and homelessness encroaching upon our community. Despite numerous calls for assistance, there seems to be little improvement in the situation. Residents report that calling the police often feels futile, as response times are unacceptably long, and when officers do arrive, there is a lack of decisive action. Trespassers, once confronted, are not effectively deterred, and simply return at a later time, leading to a vicious cycle that seems to have no end.
Moreover, the homeless population that congregates in the park next-door after midnight often spills over into the condominium area, exacerbating the residents' concerns for their safety and disrupting their peace of mind. While we are compassionate towards the homeless and understand the broader societal issues at play, the immediate threat to our safety and personal security cannot be ignored.
We call on local law enforcement and city officials to take meaningful and immediate action to improve the security measures around Dunlap Condominiums. This could include increasing patrol frequency, implementing faster response times for emergencies, and providing more resources for addressing the root causes of homelessness, such as mental health support and housing assistance.
Additionally, we urge the city's homeless outreach services to actively engage with the individuals in our area to offer them alternatives to loitering in residential spaces. It is essential that a comprehensive approach be taken to ensure not only the safety of residents but also the dignity and well-being of the homeless population.
We believe that a coordinated effort between the police, city officials, and social services will yield positive outcomes and transform Dunlap Condominiums into a safer, more secure environment for all residents. We invite you to stand with us by signing this petition and urging the authorities to prioritize this issue with the urgency it demands.
