Enhance school lunch quality with fresh food and fruits sourced from local farmers!

The Issue

I am a concerned parent, distressed by the poor quality of food served to our children at school. The meals are not only unappetizing but also lack nutritional value, which is detrimental to their health and academic performance. The current state of school lunches is largely due to the implementation of the Michelle Obama Food Program.

This program was well-intentioned, aiming to combat childhood obesity by reducing calories and increasing fruits and vegetables in school meals. However, it has resulted in meals that many students find unpalatable, leading them to discard much of their food (Food Research & Action Center). This not only wastes resources but also fails to provide our children with the energy they need for effective learning.

Moreover, research shows that good nutrition can support student success. A study published in "The Journal of School Health" found that dietary quality was associated with better academic performance among students (Journal of School Health).

Therefore, we call upon our local education authorities and policymakers to reassess this program's effectiveness. We urge them to consider other strategies for improving school lunch quality while still promoting healthy eating habits among students.

Please sign this petition if you believe in providing better-quality food for our children at schools.
