The Issue

For years, I’ve lived above the intersection of Rt 715 and Idlewood, observing countless near-miss incidents on the side roads that merge onto Rt 715. Myself included. It's terrifying knowing that any day, a stranger could call to relay tragic news about a loved one involved in a severe accident. It should not take a tragedy to spur action.

Currently, a few signs warn of S turns but nothing addresses the perilous blind turns that menace drivers every day. This oversight endangers the lives of everyone who travels these roads—families, young drivers, and the elderly who deserve to travel safely.

Rt 715 serves as a crucial corridor for residents and commuters alike in Tannersville, Reeders and Brodheadsville It’s time we demand proactive measures to protect everyone who travels this route. Simple yet effective solutions like rumble strips, larger roadside mirrors, and clearer signage can dramatically increase safety at these intersections.

Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration emphasizes that visibility improvements such as mirrors and signs reduce road accidents by up to 45%. Additionally, rumble strips significantly lower collision rates by alerting drivers. Given the proven effectiveness of these measures, implementing them on Rt 715 is not just sensible, but necessary.

Every driver deserves peace of mind, and every family deserves to know their loved ones are safe on the road. Let's push for these critical changes to Rt 715 to protect our community and prevent foreseeable accidents. By taking action now, we can save lives and avoid unnecessary tragedies.

Sign this petition to urge local authorities to prioritize the installation of better safety measures on Rt 715. Together, we have the power to make these roads safer for everyone who depends on them daily. Your signature is a step towards safer journeys for everyone. I will be taking this to our local representative Jack Rader
